Where is earthborn made
Some ingredients, such as sub-parts of vitamin premixes which are not readily available in the United States are sourced from other countries. Earthborn Holistic made the following public statement in regarding the sourcing of vitamins. Our vitamin premixes are formulated, sourced and blended in the United States by a US company in a human grade facility.
Certain subparts of the vitamin premixes are only available overseas. Our US supplier assures us that they make every effort to source from reputable non-Chinese vendors. All these ingredients are thoroughly tested and undergo many quality checks to insure safety and that specifications are met.
The protein provided by Pea Protein is inferior to animal or fish-based protein. Ingredient Splitting aims to mislead consumers and make less desirable ingredients appear further down the ingredient list. Oatmeal, Buckwheat, Barley, and Quinoa are just some of the grain ingredients that Earthborn Holistic is making use of in its new Unrefined range. These grain ingredients are considered by some to be higher-quality or superior to others, such as corn and wheat.
This is as they can provide additional nutrition and are less processed. While the information on whether Earthborn Holistic takes part in Animal Testing was hard to track down, we have managed to find out some information. Earthborn Holistic states that they do not test on animals in laboratories.
They state that all animals are humanely treated. Earthborn Holistic also participates in feeding trials with their own pets; as a way of showing their commitment to the humane treatment of animals. The above information is a strong positive and notable improvement on many of their competitors who do participate in animal testing.
We strongly believe that animal testing for the purposes of testing pet food is a cruel and outdated practice. In March , Earthborn Holistic issued a large-scale voluntary recall for much of its product range, including its core range, its venture range, and its unrefined range.
This recall was due to potential Salmonella contamination, which is one of the most common causes of pet food recalls in the United States. Salmonella is a serious concern for the FDA, given that it can have serious health effects on both humans and dogs, including Nausea, Vomiting, Diarrhea, Cramping, and Fever.
This recall comes in after another large-scale recall by Midwestern Pet Food, which affected their Sportsmix and Pro Pac brand.
We will discuss this later. This recall mainly affected the Sportmix brand but also included some Pro Pac recipes. This recall was due to potentially high levels of Aflatoxin, which can cause illness and death to pets. Symptoms of Aflatoxin poisoning include sluggishness, loss of appetite, vomiting, jaundice, and diarrhea. While not as common as potential Salmonella contamination, Aflatoxin is another common cause of recalls in pet food recipes.
Earthborn Holistic detail some of the steps they take to ensure their food is safe on their website. This includes checks for peroxide values and for free fatty acids in the fat. Earthborn Holistic also completes testing for salmonella and for water activity to prevent mold. Samples of their pet food products are sent to an independent lab if there are any observations or inconsistencies on a test result. Earthborn Holistic also insists that their suppliers run tests on the ingredients they supply, which includes testing for melamine.
The facility where their branded products are manufactured is approved for sales to the European Union, Russia, Israel, Australia, and many more, all of which have strict regulations. Despite all the steps detailed above, we still recommend regularly checking back to see if anything changes in the future, and Earthborn Holistic has to issue further recalls.
The primary driver behind this is the fantastic proportions of protein and fat that the formula provides. Primitive Natural contains a considerable portion of meat and fish ingredients, which provide very satisfactory levels of protein and fat. Some of these meat and fish ingredients include Chicken, Turkey, and Whitefish. The formula also makes use of Potatoes and Peas, which provide a small proportion of carbohydrates and fiber. The portion of both these ingredients is not significant enough to dilute the level of animal protein, which is crucial.
Sadly, the formula does contain Pea Starch, which is used as a binding agent and is looked upon poorly by some. Venture by Earthborn Holistic is a high-quality Limited Ingredient range. Low protein, high, and in the middle. The same goes for all the other contents such as fat, omegas…. I have been a staunch supporter and customer of Earthborn for years now. I have a Tibetan Mastiff and a Malamute wolfdog.
The last two bags we have gotten of the Primitive Naturals have had something wrong with them. My boys will choose to go hungry before they will eat this now. They initially, reluctantly ate some and both ended up with vomiting and diarrhea. Nothing else was changes in their diet or routine. When I got them a different food so they could have something to eat, all symptoms cleared and they are fine.
It is typically very good quality with an excellent safety record. A lot of the time your only chance at a deal is to go through an online store who is offering price savings to move inventory or as an incentive to sign up for their auto-ship program in the case of Chewy.
Actually they do have coupons. If you go to Earthborn website you can register your email and you get monthly coupons and some coupons for their dog treats. Elizabeth if you go to Earthborns website you can register and they will send Monthly emails usually sent out on the 10th of each month. I have been using Earthborn for years and my dogs have never had any problems. I have a 5y. They still get excited for their food and now their Earthborn treats.
Their coats are gorgeous and they are very active. Not to be TMI but their poop looks great too. I even feed the feral cats the Earthborn for cats and for being outside cats in my courtyard their fur looks so healthy. Have you ever used this one?
Thank you. I tried using their cat food but my two cats seemed to throw up more. I have one cat this is overweight so I use the slim and healthy formula. Any suggestions on other foods that might be better for them? I love the Earthborn Holistic grain free Primitive for my dogs who are Pit mixes and they love it. I have been feeding it to them for well over a year now but you must remember that dry food should be mixed with the wet food as they are meat eaters and it also really helps with their digestive system to run smoother.
I get mine from Tractor Supply out here in Northern California. I only wish Tractor Supply would also carry the canned food and because they do not I have to buy canned Blue Buffalo to mix it with.
You really need to start advertising out here on the West Coast! I try this for my cat. I have used the Primative Natural. Made my dog drink a huge amount. Researched it and found the ash levels are a very high 12 per cent. All the Earth born foods are fairly high in ash Everyone worries about grains and fillers but ash is the true filler in my opinion High ash can lead to kidney and other problems.
I think this is the worst of the Earthborn foods. I have been feeding my German Shepherd this for 2 years. We give her the Weight Control formula and she has done very well on it. We went back to her old food but really wish I knew what she was allergic to.
Would like to get her to a better food. We just switched out golden Georgia to this food. We previously have fed her Eagle pack adult large breed for about 5years with no problems. Slowly at first she started skipping meals then refused completely. I made her chicken rice and did a lot of research online about dog foods. I remembered a year before that I talked to an owner of a golden service dog who swore by the Earthborn brand.
Her dog had the softest hair! She said it was from the food. So, I bought a bag and used slowly with the Earthborn Natural grain free food. Her hair is already softer and her coat looks better. Her tail has always been somewhat coarse but now is softer! She loves the food! As I do think Eagle is a good food and think we just got a bad bag? Just started feeding my three small breed the Earthborn grain free with lamb. Meadowland I believe. They seem to like it.
Also bought the moist food to mix. I was dismayed to read that it is a product of Thailand. With the exception of Canada and New Zealand. Can you explain why this is the case. My 4 year old French Mastiff has been on Earth born since he was a puppy. We had to switch to the Great Plains grain free at one point because of allergies. When I switched from another top rated brand when he was a puppy to Earth Born his breath and the smell of picking up after him improved noticeably. I free feed him and he looks great!!
She gets super excited when I bring it home and paws at it when hungry. I also never give my dog bought treats. She loves baby cut carrots. We love this dog food, and so does our dog, and I want to continue purchasing, however, the packaging leaves a lot to be desired.
Ea time we attempt to open a bag, the food goes flying. The pkg needs a way to seal the food after ea feeding, and a better way to open the bag. I have been feeding my Cavalier Eartborn Coastal Catch for small breeds and she is only 3 years old and has a pancreatitis attack. The only other food she gets is a small amount of cooked chicken or lamb. Wondering if the dry food has caused the attack. Dogs are not natural eaters of fish so why is it in dog food?
I have been buying this brand for my dogs for 5 years I purchase a 28 pound bag and when I went to open it the zip look broke right away second time this happened. I have tried to reach out to Earthborn the web site on bag does not exist put tree phone calls in to the customer service hot line no response. Changing brand I pay good money for the bags. Both enjoy it, it seems to be satisfying their needs. Dogs not liking chicken liver. This bag costs Earthborn has changed their ingredients.
Make sure to buy Grain free due to typical lab allergies. I avoid cornmeal products and poultry as well. Too much bathing can be a problem. Use Dawn clear dishwashing soap for bathing. Avoid oatmeal as it is a grain so it will aggravate not soothe an itchy lab. There bags now have a Velcro type closure on them. My dog got into the bag very easily and eat a 3rd of the bag before I could get to him. They use to have a zip lock type and should go back to it. For this reason I will be forced to switch to another band, witch is to bad for my dog loves there food.
She was shedding so much and had very coarse hair. A friend recommended earthborn holistic for her. A little while before she started this food though she had a skin infection which needed to be addressed at the vet and be put on antibiotics.
She was off the antibiotics for about a week and a half and the infection has come back. She is now back on antibiotics and may require some testing.
Anyone have any recommendations for my baby. Earth born Holistics Roasted lamb with Ancient grains. Saved us from constant medical bills! I have a 6 yo Yorkie who has fought constant yeast infections for years!
No more shots every 6 weeks or prescriptions to help clear her up.
