When was tenerife formed
The zones on tenerife known as Macizo de Teno, Macizo de Anaga and Macizo de Adeje were formed 7 million years ago and these formation are called the Ancient Basaltic, also known as series 1.
These Zone were intially three separate islands lying in what is now the extreme west, east and south of tenerife. There has been a second volcanic cycle which was called Post-Moiccene formation which began 3 million years ago but this was much more intense than the previous one. Teide is the highest peak in the Atlantic Ocean, with a summit elevation of 3, meters approximately 12, feet. This type of volcano is a stratovolcano, a steep cone formed by alternating layers of dense lava flows and fragmented rocks ejected by explosive eruptions.
