Where to get speed evs

Consider this. Look at the Attack stat above. By now, you should know that with Atk EVs, the Attack stat will become at level Suppose an Adamant nature is assumed. In reverse, suppose a Modest nature is assumed. Go back to section two. You should also, by this point, understand quite a lot about EV investment.

For example, let's imagine that we're going to EV Train an Aerodactyl. Also, how about we EV Train it in Speed to make it difficult to outrun? This section assumes that you already know the basics of EV investment. Distributing EVs is very simple.

After you've done that, take a look at this chart to see what EVs you should commonly invest in:. With that information in mind, let's practice distributing EVs for some subjects. Firstly, Dugtrio. Secondly, Cresselia. Finally, Lickilicky. It has a good movepool going for it to go mixed, but it seems slow. It can't be a mixed sweeper because of lack of Speed, so why not make it a Wallbreaker?

That wasn't difficult, was it? However, you may not always choose to invest maximum EVs into core stats all the time. Let's think of Gyarados. Distribute your EVs wisely, find specific purposes with which they serve, and you will be off to a good start in no time. Now you're thinking: The previous six sections were all about information, information, and more information; I've had enough, so tell me how I EV Train!

Sorry, not just yet. We still need to make some very important preparations. Trust me, you'll need them - plus, this is the last boring section before we actually EV Train. The following tables are a compilation of useful information that attempt to enumerate all of the good EV Training hotspots. Simply choose which game you're playing - Diamond and Pearl or Platinum - and check out their respective hotspots. This should be a staple and an easy-to-understand resource that you can constantly refer to in the process of EV Training in the fourth generation.

Alright, now that we have a pretty good idea of where to kill what, let's go back to our Gengar. Here's another rule for you -. That simply means that if you have a freshly bred Clamperl and send it to battle, it automatically gains EVs from what it first kills.

Now, let's look at some steps that we need to take in order to help us EV Train. For more information, please check Section 6. Since we're dealing with Gengar, you can travel to Gengar's Analysis to figure out its base stats. Gengar's Special Attack and Speed are the qualities that make it effective, so in our example we will focus on that.

A simple spread that maximizes Gengar's Special Attacking potential will do - we will set the following as our goal:. It's as simple as that! Making preparations before EV Training is crucial.

In fact, it's so crucial that it will make your work ten times easier Let's ponder over this for a while. At first glance this might be the way to go. Obviously not! Let me introduce some more formulas to you. The proof? Why, the formulas above! Now you're thinking about all those weird terms and items in the formulas up there, right? Well, fear no more - I will reveal their purposes! Since I have advised you to buy all six Power Items, here is a reference as to which item boosts what:.

Take another look at the five formulas of EV Training I just showed you. If you do a little math, you'll realize that the formulae that can yield the most EVs is:.

Therefore, we will be focusing on that one. Assume y is 1. That's 10 EVs per kill! See how I didn't lie when I told you your life would be ten times easier if you made preparations? Also, if you haven't already, get your Power Items It's not over yet, though It's in the human nature for we as people to look for the easiest way to get things done, and EV Training is no exception.

Let's make your life ten times easier! Yes, again! However, with good news usually comes the bad, and there are two "catches" of using Vitamins:. In order to do this, simply have them both and both only in the party and battle in the wild a few times. You might have some questions, though. For instance, what does Step 13 mean? How does that work? Well, refer to the old formula:. Equipping and unequipping Power Items at the right times help prevent you from over-EVing.

You will need all ; won't do! The downside is that there is no immediate heal spot so you will have to walk east to Eterna City to heal.

Your best bet for Special Defense training is Route On that note, most ocean Routes make great places to EV train Special Defense because you will normally only find Tentacool or Tentacruel. If you are not able to surf yet, you can also go to Route 12 and 13 and fight the Venonat.

Tentacool will give you 1 EV, while Tentacruel and Mantine will both give you 2. I would suggest surfing right next to the Olivine Pokecenter at the very beginning, or the Cianwood Pokecenter at the very end, but if you get bored you could go back and forth between the two. Just be sure to watch out for the trainers!

The encounter rate here is medium, but not so excruciating that you will find yourself counting the steps between each encounter. Once again, Tentacool will be your best friend. The water has very common Tentacool and there is a Pokecenter steps away.

Route is also a nice spot since you can just heal at Oldale Town due south. Mosdeep, Dewford, and Lilycove all have Tentacool just out on their shores as well.

You could also travel to Valley Windworks, Fuego Ironworks, or Iron Island for the same effect without the heal spot close by. Encase you haven't noticed, you can pretty much just surf anywhere in the Pokemon World and will run into Tentacool or Tentacruel.

If you can surf, you can easily EV train Special Defense. One word: Zubat! Moon is a great place to EV train Speed because you will find nothing but Zubat every 2 steps.

As annoying as Zubat are, their commonness will make EV training super-fast. Moon is; the Diglett are super common almost to a fault. The Power Plant on Route 10 is also an acceptable place to train. With the new 1. As a result, Johto has lost its honor of having the easiest place to EV train for Speed. The pond right next to the entrance of Mt. Silver, however, has an abundance of Poliwag and Poliwhirl.

However these Pokemon are fairly high leveled and I don't recommend EV training here until you can easily take them out int one hit by them you should be done with EV training anyways.

If you want to look for Gyarados or Horsea while you are training, these can be decent locations, but if not you will be better off EV training at one of the Poliwag ponds. The Poliwag ponds are closer to Pokecenter, so you save a lot of time walking back and forth. They also have more common encounter rates. See the Defense section for more details. If you want to raise Attack and Speed EVs at the same time, go to the ice path. Swinub will raise Attack, while everything else except Jynx will raise Speed, and you will only have to run away from the rare Jynx or just catch it.

See the Special Attack section for more details. Route also works as you will run into the same Pokemon as above but with the added bonus of finding Linoon and Manetric who give 2 Speed EVs!

In my opinion, Meteor Falls comes in again as an extremely useful place to EV train. For some reason, you'll find nothing but Golbat in the water and they give 2 Speed EVs. This makes training super easy as long as you are not training a grass type they like to use Wing Attack and Poison Sting a lot.

The levels vary from 32 all the way down to I'm not sure why but I won't complain. Route is an easy place to get to and has Starly who will give you 1 EV point. Trophy Garden on the other hand provides a lot of Pokemon for EV training. The garden is found inside of Mr. Backlots Mansion right under Hearthome City. Roselia is also found here so this place is perfect for EV training special sweepers. The downside is that you have to walk through the Mansion, through Mr. Backlots's annoyingly long front lawn, and into Hearthome to heal.

Veekun IV calculator. An online counter for keeping track of your EVs. This method will be difficult if you are EV training on Pokemon that give 2 separate EVs in different stats. A downloadable EV counter. Much like the link above but is specifically for Pokemon. I wouldn't base every spread off of this because it is catered to a competitive metagame that is very different than the one in Pokemonium. Pokemonium Nation Wiki Explore. Wiki Content.

Sinnoh: The first place on the list in Sinnoh is route , right above Twinleaf Town. Or you can go to Tojho Falls where there are many goldeen and seaking if you want to raise Attack and Speed EVs at the same time, go to the ice path. Kanto: Mt. Hoenn: Defense EV training in Hoenn is both easy and difficult at the same time. Sinnoh: Luckily enough, Sinnoh makes up for Hoenn's lack of Special Attack spots by giving us a few really good spots!

Any leftover EVs after you divide them by four are wasted. Those 0. Keep in mind that because EVs should always be divisible by four, the effective maximum you should invest is EVs. Because EVs is the absolute maximum, and is the effective maximum per stat, that means you can—at most—max out two stats, leaving you with 6 EVs left over. This allows you to invest 4 EVs into one more stat, and you will always be left with 2 EVs left over no matter what.

This is perhaps the very most important rule of all. This includes using an Exp. Share as well as switching out without attacking! The following is a compendium of the various tools available to trainers to ease the burden of EV training.

Once you are finished training, it may be helpful to compare the stats against a damage calculator to check your work. You can get one from a man in a baseball uniform at the eastern gate in Nimbasa City that leads to Route Each Power Item will reward the corresponding EVs regardless of what you earn otherwise.

It is recommended that you purchase all six costing a total of 96 BP for the entire set. The list of Power Items includes:. The number of EVs gained for each item is set to 10 and 1, respectively. This effect stacks with the boosts from Macho Brace and the Power Items.

There is no way to tell exactly how long the infection will last. The six Vitamins available are as follows:. The six berries cannot be obtained in-game in Black and White; they can only be be found in the Windswept Sky area in the Dream World. With the closure of the Dream World, the EV reducing berries are now unobtainable in Black and White unless you are able to trade locally with a Black 2 or White 2 game.
